In an earlier post I referenced the big $ behind The Simpsons Movie promotion. Today, the good folks at Fox took it to a whole new level, turning 7-11 stores into Kwik-E-Marts, complete with Bart, Lisa and Apu and Marge greeting visitors. Word is that there are 11 stores nationwide that have undergone the full conversion, although all the stores will sell items promoting the movie.
I dropped by the one in Mountain View, CA [near Google HQ] and purchased some of the novelties on display, including a limited edition comic book and special Squishee plastic cups.
Everywhere you turned, there were familiar Simpsons characters, in the magazines, in the freezer, near the ice cream, guarding the donutz.
They were all out of Krusty-O's and magnetic straws, but never fear--they will have more from another store tomorrow.
